Marromeu C10, Mozambique, the “Buffalo Hunters’ Paradise”

The Marromeu Coutada 10 hunting grounds are one of the most excellent and famous hunting grounds of the Zambezi delta in the south, where the special features of the area and thus the abundance of game allow hunters to harvest more game in a short time.

Buffalo is most abundant in the delta area, there is a 99% chance of finding a buffalo, and the hunt is very enjoyable. They use an ARGO (amphibious vehicle) to go into the more swampy areas, where the hunt continues on foot. According to our experience, a 5-7 day hunting program is more than enough to find buffalo and 2-4 more plaingame (antelope, gazelle). Our hunting area, located along the Zambezi delta, is a paradise for buffalo hunters, as it is located on the border of the Marromeu Buffalo Reserve, on approximately 225,000 ha. Approximately 27,000 buffalo are counted annually in the buffalo reserve and the hunting area next to it by aerial population estimation. The famous Gorongosa National Park is located 40 km from the western border of the hunting area.

In the forest we do classical tracking, and we will hunt 15-20% of the buffaloes that end up on the harvest there. Hunting and shooting from a car is not allowed.

The central camp is located in the cool shade of old, large trees. The insect-free bungalows are made of wood, they have comfortable beds, and all the houses are equipped with mosquito nets, shower cabins, hand basins, constant hot water, and flush toilets. The dining room is an open, covered space with a small bar. Opposite it is a fireplace, surrounded by comfortable camp chairs. In the evenings, by the campfire, we talk about our experiences and plan the next hunting day, while sipping cold or hot drinks. The camp staff, the trackers, the skinners, the professional hunters have a lot of experience and are constantly monitoring the needs of the guests.

It is an easy-to-hunt area with a very large game population. In this area, slower hunters will also be successful.
